As you are aware, oral health is incredibly important. If not properly cared for, it can lead to tooth pain, tooth loss, and even systemic diseases. The extent that a patient needs to take care of their oral health varies by individual, from the number of times they need to complete at-home care, the duration of those activities, and the different products recommended to combat oral bacteria and their detrimental effects.
There are 2 types of bacteria in human mouths, one that causes tooth decay and another one that causes gum disease. The amount that they are found in the oral cavity varies by patient. Therefore, oral health, and the extent at which patient’s need to attend to it, varies by individual.
It all starts with proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups. However, sometimes all of that still isnot enough. Depending on the patient’s individual needs, we here at My Dental Dentistry Implants often recommend that patients take additional steps with their own at-home care regimens. Some of the most popular products are MI Paste, Fluoridex, and Enamelon.
MI Paste
In terms of use and application, MI paste is used almost identically to the way toothpaste is used. You simply spread it on your toothbrush and brush like normal. However, it is in the chemical makeup of MI paste that it begins to significantly differ from toothpaste. MI paste contains ReCalDent, a special ingredient that comes from dairy proteins. The paste is designed to both reduce acid in the mouth and remineralize the enamel of your teeth, both of which will significantly improve your oral health. MI paste can help you improve your oral health, especially if you have conditions such as dry mouth, tooth sensitivity, or white spots on your teeth from acid erosion.
Fluoridex
Fluoridex is designed for people who do not have enough exposure to fluoride through their at-home water source, being either city water or well water. In America, city water is treated with fluoride to make sure that you have enough to keep your teeth healthy. In communities with well water, this is not the case, however. To help augment the exposure to fluoride, Fluoridex can be useful. It is most commonly used by people who are experiencing extensive tooth decay due to a lack of fluoride. It can also be used to help chemotherapy patients. If Flouridex is right for you, it may lead to stronger and healthier teeth.
Enamelon
Enamelon is like a combination of MI paste and Flouridex. It combines the remineralizing aspects of MI Paste with the fluoridated benefit of Fluoridex. It is extremely beneficial for preventing cavities and gum disease, and it can decrease tooth sensitivity. It also has no abrasives, gluten, or dyes.
